This degree requires 120 credit hours, including 42 hours of University Core coursework.
Degree Requirements
All candidates must meet the following:
- Fulfill all university requirements for a bachelor’s degree, as outlined in the Bachelor’s Degree Requirements section of this catalog.
- Complete Core Curriculum Requirements for students entering college in Fall 1999 or later.
- Satisfy Bachelor of Science degree requirements:
- Lower Division Requirements:
- 3 semester hours of speech
- Satisfy the computer literacy/proficiency requirement (see note below)
- Natural Sciences:
- 11 semester hours in natural sciences, including at least 2 semester hours in laboratory courses.
- Students must complete at least 6 semester credit hours in natural science courses, such as biology, biophysical sciences, chemistry, geology, and physics.
- students must take at least six semester credit hours in natural science course work intended for science and engineering majors.
4. Complete all required courses for the degree plan (outlined below).
Note: Students who are core complete but did not take speech and computer literacy/proficiency as part of their core curriculum will be required to complete these courses to meet degree requirements.

- Core 030 Life and Physical Science (At least 6 semester hours of science coursework must be intended for science majors-ABET requirement)

- Core 080 Social and Behavioral Sciences
- Core 090 Component Area Option: Speech
- Core 090 Component Area Option: Computer Literacy (COSC 1336/1136 recommended)
Major Program Requirements
Computer Science majors must receive a grade of C or higher in all COSC, GMNG and MATH courses, including prerequisites. Any course in which a student receives a D, F, or W, must be repeated. No grades transferred of D, F, or W in these subjects will apply to this academic plan. Bachelor of Science Program Requirements - 4 hours

Free Electives
**Elective hours may vary depending on student transfer credit, please consult your academic advisor for elective requirements . Electives are added to degree requirements to meet minimum requirement of 120 semester hours. Total 120 s.h.
Total must be minimum of 120 semester hours. 30 of the last 36 advanced semester hours must be completed with Texas A&M University-Victoria. ^ May be satisfied within core curriculum. However, 3 semester hours of both speech and computer literacy/proficiency are still required even if the student is certified as core complete by way of transfer from a Texas public community college or public university. |
