Psychology, B.S.


This degree requires 120 credit hours, including 42 hours of University Core coursework.

Degree Requirements

All candidates must meet the following:

  1. Fulfill all university requirements for a bachelor’s degree, as outlined in the Bachelor’s Degree Requirements  section of this catalog.
  2. Complete Core Curriculum  Requirements for students entering college in Fall 1999 or later.
  3. Satisfy Bachelor of Science degree requirements:
  • Lower Division Requirements:
    • 3 semester hours of speech
    • Satisfy the computer literacy/proficiency requirement (see note below)
  • Natural Sciences:
    • 11 semester hours in natural sciences, including at least 2 semester hours in laboratory courses.
    • Students must complete at least 6 semester credit hours in natural science courses, such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, or Bio/Physical Science.

   4. Complete all required courses for the degree plan (outlined below).

Note: Students who are core complete but did not take speech and computer literacy/proficiency as part of their core curriculum will be required to complete these courses to meet degree requirements.

  • Core 020 Mathematics - 3 hours
  • Core 030 Life and Physical Science - 7 hours (including 1 Lab)
  • Core 040 Language, Philosophy and Culture - 3 hours
  • Core 050 Creative Arts - 3 hours
  • Core 060 American History - 6 hours
  • Core 070 Government/Political Science - 6 hours
  • Core 080 Social and Behavioral Sciences - 3 hours
  • Core 090 Component Area Option: Speech - 3 hours
  • Core 090 Component Area Option: Computer Literacy - 3 hours

  • Natural Science - 11 s.h. including 2 labs (Up to 7 semester hours may be satisfied in Core)
