Admission to a Graduate Certification Program

For applicants, with GPA’s below 3.0, seeking certifications in a class other than classroom teacher the following scores must be achieved:

GRE® scores in the following ranges:

• GRE® Verbal Reasoning - 143 or greater
• GRE® Quantitative Reasoning - 140 or greater
• GRE® Analytical Writing - 3.0 or greater

The applicant MUST also meet the Texas A&M University-Victoria admissions index.

Required Courses (must earn an A or B in all 3 courses)

• LITY 6334 Foundations in Developmental Reading

• *Prerequisite for LITY 6331 and LITY 6362

• LITY 6331 Instruction for Students with Literacy Difficulties
• LITY 6362 Assessment of Multi-Literacies Learning

Note:

If desired, pass the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Reading Instruction (KPEERI) exam (KPEERI Exam | The Center for Effective Reading Instruction) to become a certified Structured Literacy Teacher.
