Academic Minor Requirements 15 hrs

Requirements:  15 semester hours selected from the following approved list:

• HCAD 4353 Human Resource Management
• HCAD 4355 Organizational Change
• HCAD 4351 Quality Assessment for Patient Care Improvement
• HCAD 4352 Healthcare Information Systems Management
• HCAD 4354 Economics for Healthcare
• HCAD 4356 Strategic Healthcare Management & Planning

General Information for Minors:

• None of the courses listed above nor a field experience course may be substituted to a minor program.
• A student must complete all course work required for the minor in addition to all course work required for the degree prior to graduation.
• All minor programs in the College of Business require at least 9 hours upper-level coursework in residence at Texas A&M Unversity-Victoria.
• Students have to keep in mind that in some instances courses listed as requirements or options for the minor program may have prerequisites that are not listed as part of the program. Prerequisites will not be waived.
• Courses must be unique to each concentration and minor. No course overlap is permitted across the requirements for plan, concentration, or minor.
• Students pursuing an academic concentration in entrepreneurship, healthcare administration, human resources management, international business, or supply chain management MAY NOT also select a minor from one of those areas, due to THECB restrictions.

Academic Policies for Minors

Several areas within the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, College of Business, College of Education & Health Professions, and College of Natural & Applied Science offer minors. To earn a minor, students must meet the following requirements:

• Complete a minimum of 15 semester credit hours in the minor field. Some minors may require up to 21 hours.

• Complete all prerequisites required by the program offering the minor.

• At least 12 semester hours must be upper division courses, although individual minors may require more hours at the upper level. 

• Complete at least 9 of the 12 upper-division hours at Texas A&M Univeristy Victoria. Some minors may require more.

• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 in all minor coursework.

• Students cannot minor in the same field as their major.

• Courses used to satisfy the major cannot also count toward minor requirements.

• Mathematics majors who minor in Digital Gaming cannot apply minor coursework toward their major.

• Complete all minor requirements in addition to degree requirements before graduation.

Notes:
Minors are not available to students pursuing the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) or any undergraduate program leading to secondary school certification.
Students should inform their academic advisor if they plan to complete a minor, to ensure proper course planning.
