Accountancy, M.A.

Mission:  The Master of Accountancy program provides recent accounting graduates with advanced graduate accounting courses to round out their education and meet the 150 credit-hour requirement for CPA eligibility. 

This program seeks to develop in each graduate the capacity to:  

  • Illustrate professional accounting knowledge on accounting standards, principles, concepts, theories;
  • Apply accounting knowledge to solve accounting problems that arise from complex business environment;
  • Understand professional and ethical issues faced by accountants in a broad spectrum of accounting and business contexts; and
  • Examine strategic plans and issues encountered by business organizations to resolve the problems.

Degree Requirements for the Master of Accountancy

  • All M.A. candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Satisfy all university requirements for a bachelor’s degree as found in the section Master’s Degree Requirements  of this catalog.

Student Expectations

MACCY students are expected to:

  • Be familiar with the mission and values of the program and to comply with the expectations of them outlined in this catalog, their new student orientation, and their course syllabi.
  • Maintain high standards of academic honesty and ethical behavior as outlined on course syllabi each semester.
  • Track their progress on their degree programs and contact their advisors promptly to resolve questions about their enrollment.
  • Verify that they have the appropriate prerequisites for their courses each semester.
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 throughout the program and receive no more than two Cs in coursework applied to the degree program.
  • Apply for graduation by the published deadline for the semester in which they will complete degree requirements.
  • Ensure that the College of Business has current contact information for them at all times.

While this degree is intended to help students meet the 150 hours required for CPA, students are responsible for verifying all requirements for CPA eligibility are met with the TSBPA and my require coursework beyond what is included in this program, due to differences in prior coursework complete.
