Accounting, B.B.A.

The B.B.A. program prepares graduates for professional business careers by developing their ability to:

Comprehend the business environment and functions.
Demonstrate effective communication skills.
Demonstrate knowledge of data analytic tools in business situations.
Employ ethical principles in business situations.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively on teams in organizational situations.

All B.B.A. candidates must meet the following requirements:

Satisfy all university requirements for a bachelor’s degree as found in the section Bachelor’s Degree Requirements of this catalog.
Residency Requirements:

At least 50% of coursework in business concentrations must be taken from A&M-Victoria.

4. Comprehensive Exam:

Students in MGMT 4309 must complete a comprehensive exam covering B.B.A. core content.
The exam can be taken at the arranged testing sites or students will need to make suitable proctoring arrangements.

5. B.B.A. Conference:

All B.B.A. students must participate in the B.B.A. Conference during the semester in which they enroll in MGMT 4309 .
The conference is held each fall and spring. Face-to-face attendance may be required.
Students should check the schedule prior to registration to avoid scheduling conflicts.

BBA students are expected to:

Be familiar with the mission and values of the program and to comply with the expectations of them outlined in this catalog, their new student orientation, and their course syllabi.
Maintain high standards of academic honesty and ethical behavior as outlined on course syllabi each semester.
Track their progress on their degree programs and contact their advisors promptly to resolve questions about their enrollment.
Verify that they have the appropriate prerequisites for their courses each semester.
Apply for graduation by the published deadline for the semester in which they will complete degree requirements.
Ensure that the College of Business has current contact information for them at all times.

Degree requirements are summarized below.

University Core Curriculum - 42 Semester Hours

Students entering with fewer than 30 semester hours are required to complete one of the following courses.

A maximum of 2 grades of ‘D’ may be used beyond this point (excluding free electives and minor).

Coursework beyond this point must be less than 10 years old at the time of graduation (excluding free electives and minor).

Free electives as needed to satisfy the 120 semester hour minimum (may be LD or UD academic credit).

This program is designed to assist students in meeting the educational requirements necessary to sit for the CPA examination in Texas.

To be eligible to take the exam, students must:

Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a board-recognized U.S. college or university, or an equivalent degree as determined by board rule from an institution of higher education in another country.
Complete a minimum of 120 semester credit hours (or the equivalent in quarter hours).
Complete at least 21 semester credit hours of upper-level accounting coursework from a board-recognized institution.
Complete at least 24 semester credit hours of upper-level business coursework. This must include a minimum of two semester credit hours in accounting or business communications (COMM 3326 may be used to satisfy this requirement).
