2025-2026 Academic Catalog
Graduation Under a Particular Catalog
|
|
Students are generally entitled to graduate under the degree requirements of the catalog in effect during their first completed semester of enrollment. The following exceptions apply:
- A catalog more than ten years old may not be used.
- A student who interrupts enrollment for more than one calendar year (except for involuntary military service) must meet the degree requirements in effect upon re-enrollment. To retain eligibility under the original catalog, a student returning from involuntary military service must re-enroll within one year of separation from service and no more than five years from the start of military service. Enrollment is defined as registration for and successful completion of at least one course during an academic term. A student who withdraws for cause before completing a course may petition for a waiver of this requirement at the time of withdrawal. .
- A student who changes their plan from one college to another within the university shall be governed by the degree requirements in effect at the time the change of plan becomes effective.
- At the discretion of the dean, with the advice and consent of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the student will be required to comply with all changes in the curriculum made subsequent to the year in which the student is enrolled. Deletions and additions of courses will be of approximately equal credit so that no student will have an overall appreciable increase of total credits required for graduation.
- A student transferring directly from a junior college to Texas A&M University-Victoria may use the A&M-Victoria catalog in effect at the time of their initial enrollment at the junior college, provided they follow the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board core curriculum. This provision does not apply if the student interrupts studies for more than two consecutive semesters (excluding summer sessions) before transferring. In such cases, the student must qualify for graduation under the A&M-Victoria catalog in effect upon returning to the junior college or upon matriculating at A&M-Victoria .
- A student who completes upper-level degree requirements under a specific catalog may continue under that catalog for up to one additional year, even if lower-level requirements are completed later.
