At Texas A&M University-Victoria , academic advisors support students in meeting academic requirements. Advisors are professional staff members who are knowledgeable about A&M-Victoria’s degree programs, academic policies, and campus resources.
Each student is assigned an advisor based on their major or program of study. Undergraduate students with fewer than 45 total credit hours (including transfer and A&M-Victoria hours) are advised by a Student Success Coach.
Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor during their first semester and at least once per year thereafter. Regular advising sessions help students understand course sequencing, avoid unnecessary coursework, and develop a clear plan for degree completion.
While advisors provide informed guidance, students are ultimately responsible for understanding and fulfilling all degree requirements as outlined in their catalog and degree plan. Advisors serve in an advisory capacity; students retain full responsibility for their academic decisions and outcomes.
