The UHV M.B.A.

Preamble: The UHV MBA is a 30 hour MBA program with curriculum emphasis on leadership and strategic decision making.

  • Students without sufficient prior coursework may be required to take up to 6 hours of foundation coursework.
  • Students may elect to add a concentration, completing the coursework as defined by the selected concentration and any required additional hours.

Mission: The mission of The UHV MBA program is to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage organizations in a dynamic environment by offering an integrated curriculum that blends theoretical concepts with practical applications.

The UHV MBA graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze business operations and processes;
  • Analyze changes in the business environment to develop strategies that respond to emerging opportunities and threats;
  • Apply leadership skills to work effectively with individuals and teams in organizational situations; and
  • Apply cross-functional approaches to organizational issues.

Degree Requirements


The following courses are required for attaining the Master of Business Administration degree. Courses are listed in the recommended completion order.

Required Foundation Courses (6 hours) - Not required for students with sufficient prior coursework


Required Electives (6 hours) or optional concentration (6-12 hours):


Choose two advanced electives, selected from the available concentration offerings. Students may use these electives to satisfy hours required by their concentration selection.  If the concentration requires completion of 12 hours, additional electives will be required.

Academic Concentration Options (6-12 hours)


Choose one of the following:

Accounting:


12 semester hours composed of 3 hours required accounting courses, and 9 semester hours of electives selected from an approved list.

  • Three additional graduate Accounting (ACCT) electives.
  • For students coming from non-accounting undergraduate programs, additional undergraduate prerequisites may be required for enrollment in the concentration courses. 

Human Resources Management:


Complete the following 12 semester hours.

International Business


6 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list.

Total                                  30-36 hours + foundation

*Students who do not have sufficient background in Statistics/Analytics will be required to take BUSI 6A02  as a foundation course. Students who do not have a sufficient background in Accounting will be required to take ACCT 6A01  as a foundation course. Students who do not have a sufficient background in Economics will be required to take ECON 6351  as a foundation course.
