At UH-Victoria, the Office of Admissions Processing is responsible for administering UHV admissions policies.

Admission policies that were previously located on this page can now be found on the Policies  page.

General Admission/Application Information

The Apply Texas Application may be submitted by students who are U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) of the United States. To access the Apply Texas Application, see the UHV website and click on “Apply”.  A $25.00 non-refundable/non-transferable application fee will be required.

International applicants who currently hold a visa that permits enrollment or have pending permanent residence status may submit the Apply Texas Application for International Students. From the UHV homepage, choose the Apply link, then select International Students from the list on the left side of the page. This link will direct you to the International Student information page. You will find steps to the admission process, links to required admission forms, and related information in the left column under International Students.

When applicants submit the completed application, an email confirmation from Apply Texas will be sent to the applicant stating that the application was submitted successfully. UHV’s Office of Admissions will receive the application within 1 to 2 business days. The applicant will receive a myUHV student ID number by email. The applicant can then login and check their admission status through myUHV Self-Service. Applicants may also be contacted by email to provide additional information needed for the admission process.

Applications for admission should be submitted as early as possible to ensure time for processing before registration. The completed application, with supporting documents, constitutes the basis upon which eligibility for admission is determined. All questions on the application must be answered fully. Admission is invalid if granted based on incorrect information or omitted facts, which, if known, would have caused the applicant to be ineligible.

Students must contact the Office of Admissions Processing if they do not enroll for the semester/term indicated on the original application.

If a student does not contact the Office of Admissions Processing to update their term or enroll for their admitted term, the student’s account will be deactivated. At that time, the student must reapply through ApplyTexas and pay the $25 application fee.

Distance Education Out-of-State Authority

The U.S. Department of Education (U.S. DoE) released new regulations regarding distance education in October 2010. One of the new regulations focuses on the need for institutions offering distance education to acquire authorization from any state where the institution has currently enrolled students. As the details regarding this regulation continue to be clarified, the University of Houston-Victoria is in the process of gaining authorization from other states.

Depending on the outcome of this authorization, UHV could notify students residing in a particular state that they are not eligible to register for distance education courses. In cases where UHV students are affected by this change, the University of Houston-Victoria will provide assistance to students to resolve this matter.

NC-SARA

*NC-SARA membership allows the University of Houston to conduct limited activities in the indicated member states below. Please see the SARA Policies and Standards document for details of specific authorized activities. Please note that the University of Houston is not authorized to conduct internships leading to professional licensure without direct coordination with the licensure board in that state.

Complaint Resolution

As part of the process, UHV is required to provide current and prospective students with contact information for filing complaints.

For complaints regarding grades, course requirements and course procedures follow the University of Houston-Victoria Undergraduate or Graduate grievance policies.

If an issue cannot be resolved internally, you may file a complaint with your state. The Student Grievance Contact Information for Individual States provides phone numbers, e-mail and/or links to state education agencies.

University of Houston-Victoria is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The SACS site provides complaint procedures against the commission or its accredited institutions.

For questions concerning the complaint process or the new U.S. DOE regulations affecting distance education, please contact uhvonline@uhv.edu or (281) 396-3808.
