School Administrator - Principal Graduate Certification Preparation Program

Admission to a Graduate Certification Program

Applicant must possess a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university, preferably one in educational leadership or curriculum & assessment.
For applicants with a GPA less than 2.50/4.00, the GRE will be required prior to admission.
Three letters of recommendation (one from current supervisor), applicant essay, and official transcripts from master and bachelor degrees are required.

Texas Education Agency requirements to obtain a Principal certificate.

Must hold a master’s degree from a university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Must hold a valid classroom teaching certificate.
Must have two years of creditable teaching experience as a classroom teacher.
Must successfully complete an approved principal educator preparation program.
Must successfully complete the TExES #268 and TExES #368/PASL certification assessments.

Additional UHV requirements to obtain a Principal certificate:

Admission to graduate study within the College of Education & Health Professions must precede the completion of applicable course work.
Participants must complete the certification preparation program and present evidence of successful passing of TExES #268 practice test prior to being allowed to take the TExES #268 and TExES #368/PASL certification examinations.
Participants must complete required administrative internship and practicum experiences.
