- Hold a valid Texas teacher certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Admission to gradute study within the School of Education, Health Professions & Human Development must precede the completion of applicable coursework.
- Have a signed dyslexia certificate plan on file.
- Complete the 9 semester hours of specified graduate-level courses:

Graduate Certification
Admission to a Graduate Certification Program
For applicants, with GPA’s below 3.0, seeking certifications in a class other than classroom teacher the following scores must be achieved:
GRE® scores in the following ranges:
- GRE® Verbal Reasoning - 143 or greater
- GRE® Quantitative Reasoning - 140 or greater
- GRE® Analytical Writing - 3.0 or greater
The applicant MUST also meet the UHV admissions index.
Required Courses (must earn an A or B in all 3 courses)
Note:
If desired, pass the Certified Examiniation for Effective Reading Instruction (CEERI) exam (effectivereading.org/certification) to become a certified Structured Literacy Teacher.
