Strategic, M.B.A.

Preamble: The Strategic MBA is a 30-hour MBA program (9 hours foundation, 18 hours core, and 12 hours concentration) with curriculum emphasis on leadership and strategic decision making.

Mission: The mission of the Strategic MBA program is to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage organizations in a dynamic environment by offering an integrated curriculum that blends theoretical concepts with practical applications.

Strategic MBA graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze business operations and processes;
  • Analyze changes in the business environment to develop strategies that respond to emerging opportunities and threats;
  • Apply leadership skills to work effectively with individuals and teams in organizational situations; and
  • Apply cross-functional approaches to organizational issues.

Degree Requirements


The following courses are required for attaining the Master of Business Administration degree. Courses are listed in the recommended completion order.

Required Academic Concentration (12 hours)


Choose one of the following:

Accounting:


12 semester hours composed of 3 hours required accounting courses, and 9 semester hours of electives selected from an approved list.

  • Three additional graduate Accounting (ACCT) electives.
  • For students coming from non-accounting undergraduate programs, additional undergraduate prerequisites may be required for enrollment in the concentration courses. 

Human Resources Management:


12 semester hours composed of 9 hours required courses, and 3 semester hours of electives selected from an approved list.

Total Program Requirements 30 Hours


Foundation Courses*         9 hours
Core Requirements          18 hours
Academic Concentration 12 hours
Total                                   30 hours (plus foundation)

*Students who do not have sufficient background in Statistics/Analytics will be required to take QMSC 6351 as a foundation course. Students who do not have a sufficient background in Accounting will be required to take ACCT 6351 as a foundation course. Students who do not have a sufficient background in Economics will be required to take ECON 6351 as a foundation course.
