Kinesiology, B.S.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology prepares students to become professionals in various specializations, such as teaching physical education in a public school system (with an EC-12 all level Texas teaching certification), exercise sports science, pre-allied health or sport management. Students will be prepared to earn a Texas teaching certification in EC-12 all-level physical education. The 121- to 124-hour B.S. in Kinesiology is designed to be completed in four years. Students can select one of the following concentrations as their concentration:

  • Exercise Sports Science
  • Pre-Allied Health
  • Sport Management 
  • Physical Education K-12 
  • Physical Educaton K-12 (with second teaching field)

 

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Exercise Sports Science


The following requirements apply to all candidates for the BS in Kinesiology -Exercise Sport Science


Satisfy Core Curriculum Requirements for students entering college in Fall 1999 or after. (43 hours minimum). See “General Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree.”

Mandatory Internship: 12 Hours


Faculty Advisor Approved Electives: 6 Hours (UD)


Faculty Advisor approval MUST be obtained PRIOR TO registration of elective courses.  Upper Division courses only.

Total: 121 s.h.^

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Pre-Allied Health


The following requirements apply to all candidates for the BS in Kinesiology -Pre- Allied Health


Satisfy Core Curriculum Requirements for students entering college in Fall 1999 or after. (43 hours minimum). See “General Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree .”

Special Foundation Courses - 21 semester hours


  • Courses by Advisement depending on specific admission requirements of the graduate schools that students plan to apply for.  
  • Common requirements:  Biology with Lab (BIOL 1106, 1306), Chemistry with Lab (CHEM 1111/1311, 1112/1312), Physics with/without Lab (PHYS 1101/1301, 1102/1302), Medical Terminology (HLST 3311), Statistics (MATH 3395), Psychology (PSYC 2301), Economics (ECON 2301, 2302), Organic Chemistry (CHEM 2323, 2325), Sociology, and and/or Pharmacology.

Total: 121 s.h.^

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Sport Management


The following requirements apply to all candidates for the BS in Kinesiology -Sport Management


Satisfy Core Curriculum Requirements for students entering college in Fall 1999 or after. (42 hours minimum). See “General Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree .”

Mandatory Internship: 12 Hours


Faculty Advisor Approved Electives - 15 Hours


Choose one (1) from the following options:

  • 15 credit hours of Marketing (MKTG) courses
  • 15 credit  hours of Management (MGMT) courses
  • 15 credit hours of Communication (COMM) courses

Faculty Advisor approval MUST be obtained PRIOR TO registration of elective courses.

Total: 121 s.h.^

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Physical Education


The following requirements apply to all candidates for the BS in Kinesiology - Physical Education


Satisfy Core Curriculum Requirements for students entering college in Fall 1999 or after. (43 hours minimum). See “General Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree   .”

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Physical Education


Students that declare to take 24 hours in a secondary teaching field may later test and apply for a second teaching certification after graduating and obtaining their initial teacher certification in EC-12 Physical Education.
