Preamble: The Strategic MBA is a 30 hour MBA program with curriculum emphasis on leadership and strategic decision making.
- Students without sufficient prior coursework may be required to take up to 6 hours of foundation coursework.
- Students may elect to add a concentration, completing the coursework as defined by the selected concentration the required additional hours.
Mission: The mission of the Strategic MBA program is to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage organizations in a dynamic environment by offering an integrated curriculum that blends theoretical concepts with practical applications.
Strategic MBA graduates will be able to:
- Analyze business operations and processes;
- Analyze changes in the business environment to develop strategies that respond to emerging opportunities and threats;
- Apply leadership skills to work effectively with individuals and teams in organizational situations; and
- Apply cross-functional approaches to organizational issues.

Degree Requirements
The following courses are required for attaining the Master of Business Administration degree. Courses are listed in the recommended completion order.
Required Foundation Courses (6 hours) - Not required for students with sufficient prior coursework
Required Core Courses (24 hours)
Required Elective:
Choose an advanced elective, selected from the available concentration offerings. Students choosing a concentration should select their advanced elective from the selected concentration.
Required Capstone Courses (6 hours)
Optional Academic Concentration (6-9 hours)
Choose one of the following:
Accounting:
9 semester hours composed of 3 hours required accounting courses, and 6 semester hours of electives selected from an approved list.
- ACCT 6371 Advanced Auditing
- Two additional graduate Accounting (ACCT) electives.
For students coming from non-accounting undergraduate programs, additional undergraduate prerequisites may be required for enrollment in the concentration courses.
Electives:
6 semester hours selected from the following courses:
Business Analytics
9 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list.
Finance:
9 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list.
Human Resources Management:
9 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list.
Management:
9 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list.
Marketing:
9 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list. May substitute up to 3 hours from the Supply Chain Management listing.
Supply Chain Management:
9 semester hours composed of electives selected from the following approved list.
Total Program Requirements
Foundation Courses* 6 hours
Core Requirements 30 hours
Academic Concentration 9-12 hours OPTIONAL concentration
Total 30-36 hours + foundation
*Students who do not have sufficient background in Statistics/Analytics will be required to take BUSI 6A02 as a foundation course. Students who do not have a sufficient background in Accounting will be required to take ACCT 6A01 as a foundation course. Students who do not have a sufficient background in Economics will be required to take ECON 6A01 as a foundation course.
