The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice is a 36-credit hour graduate program that will prepare recent college graduates and those already working within the criminal justice field for leadership and policy-making positions.

Admissions

General Admission Requirements. Admission to Graduate Studies is permitted in both Fall and Spring semesters (see Graduate Student Admissions ). It is the responsibility of the applicant to furnish all necessary documentation for Fall or Spring admission to the Admissions office by the published deadline(s).

1-2 page Essay/Personal Statement.
2 Letters of Recommendation - 1 letter must be fron a non-UHV source.

Thesis

Students who choose to write a thesis must first be approved by a member of the Criminal Justice faculty and then take CRIJ 6308 and CRIJ 6309 . These courses count toward the 12 elective credits. Thesis students are exempt from the Comprehensive Exam.

Comprehensive Exam

Non-thesis students must take and pass a Comprehensive Exam during their final semester. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange for the exam with a member of the Criminal Justice faculty.
