Preamble: The Master of Accountancy degree is a 30-credit hour graduate program (18 hour core, 6 hours accounting electives, and 6 hours approved electives) with curriculum emphasis on accounting. Students may be required to take additional foundation courses that are not counted toward the MA degree plan.
Mission: The mission of the Master of Accountancy degree is to provide recent accounting graduates with advanced graduate accounting courses to round out their education and meet the 150 credit-hour requirement for the CPA exam. The MA degree program seeks to develop in each graduate the capacity to:
- Illustrate professional accounting knowledge on accounting standards, principles, concepts, theories;
- Apply accounting knowledge to solve accounting problems that arise from complex business environment;
- Understand professional and ethical issues faced by accountants in a broad spectrum of accounting and business contexts; and
- Examine strategic plans and issues encountered by business organizations to resolve the problems.
The following courses are required for attaining the Master of Accountancy degree. Courses are listed in the recommended completion order.
