Graduate Certification


Admission to a Graduate Certification Program

For applicants, with GPA’s below 3.0, seeking certifications in a class other than classroom teacher the following scores must be achieved:

GRE® scores in the following ranges:

  • GRE® Verbal Reasoning - 143 or greater
  • GRE® Quantitative Reasoning - 140 or greater
  • GRE® Analytical Writing - 3.0 or greater

The applicant MUST also meet the UHV admissions index.

Degree Requirements


  • Hold a valid Texas teacher certificate.
  • Master’ degree. (see Master of Education - Special Education )
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in an accredited school.
  • Admission to graduate study within the College of Education & Health Professions must precede the completion of applicable course work.
  • Completion of at least 39 semester hours of approved courses related to the program for educational diagnostician.
  • Pass the TExES #153.
